Transformative Change (XC) brings the practice of presence to community-based visioning, strategizing and organizing for cohesive and sustainable social transformation. Our projects, programs, and training in inner awareness practices establish an embodied presence and resilience for social change agents, and interconnects individual liberation with liberation for all. Founder in Residence and Senior Fellow to XC is Rev. angel Kyodo williams, Rōshi (Rev. angel), a spiritual teacher, activist and foremost thinker in the emerging Transformative Change movement.

About the Position
We are looking for a Communication + Outreach Lead (CO) to develop and implement the overall communications plan for Transformative Change (XC). This person would be responsible for scoping out strategies to scale our networks, digital and social media presence, and to have timely, relevant, and effective communications with our program participants, donors, volunteers, and partner organizations. They will also oversee the plan to roll out our social media presence on various platforms. Once developed, the CO will drive content creation for social media posts on behalf of our XC, and will have oversight of timely communications through the XC website. They will work closely with our communications team to create a comms workflow processes across the organization and our various projects. They will work in partnership with our Storyteller + Media arts program to develop consistent messaging and written content copy for ongoing utilization for XC.
To thrive in this role, you should be an excellent communicator with outstanding attention to detail. You must be self-driven to take creative initiative without hesitation. There is a team to lean upon, so skills in delegation are key. The ability to see projects through from start to finish is a must: i.e. visionary AND executor. This role is 30% strategy and 100% hands on, so If you aren’t detail oriented, this isn’t the role for you.
Location & Time Zone
XC is a distributed and remote team that does not have a central office. Core team members work from the place that best honors their needs. All of our internal communication happens through various tech platforms, especially Slack, ClickUp and Spark email for teams. We are very happy to support our team members choosing where they want to work and live. We have a required weekly team call that currently takes place on Tuesdays from 11:00am – 1:00p PT.
Contract & Compensation
Compensation: $22-$27/ hour.
Compensation will be dependent upon experience.
We are seeking someone to fill a part-time remote position. The position title will begin as a contractor at hours per week for the first 3-months. There will be review at the 3-month mark.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Marketing Strategy:
- Develop and orchestrate the digital marketing plan and work with the XC team to ensure a seamless approach to content development, distribution, community building, and impact opportunities.
- Identify and pursue new network growth opportunities, including creating new partnerships and new approaches to digital marketing as a part of our movement building strategy
- Ensure that research, data, and user inputs drive design and implementation of marketing strategy.
- Work with our development and fundraising team to implement effective, targeted digital fundraising campaigns
- Develop Social Media strategy and project plan
Internal Communication Systems Development:
- Develop internal communications processes and templates that foster clear, consistent, and seamless workflow
- Work with program leads to develop communications plans, and iterate to develop best practices for communications across the organization
- Create email templates in Mailchimp for various forms of communication (i.e. one time or ongoing events, job postings, newsletters, etc)
- Develop and grow our Mailchimp mailing list
- Create communication templates and maintain communication workflow through our program/project CRM, Kajabi
- Oversee the implementation of the social media plan – track project objectives with clear deadlines and quantifiable deliverables
- Effectively track communications and marketing projects from inception to finish in our project management software (ClickUp)
- Draft written copy for communications including but not limited to: email communications, event promos, newsletter, social media and web content. ((or delegate drafting to appropriate person as needed)
- Ability to craft an email/copy that matches the organization voice for ongoing and one time communications is a MUST
- Keep all information relevant and up to date on XC websites and social media by creating weekly (minimum) systems to check and update
- Work with the contract web developer to make any structural changes to websites
- work with creative manager to maintain branding
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
- Must have excellent & creative written communication skills appropriate for both internal and external communication.
- Competent project coordinator, able to plan, self-manage, re-prioritize, and follow through as needed to meet deadlines
- Skilled at using and leverage multiple accounts on social media: (required) Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and (ideal or learn) Tiktok
- Fluent in social justice, race and equity and the issues surrounding those
- High level of integrity; projects credibility
- Demonstrated experience with executing based on instructions and following reporting protocols
- Able to work with a distributed team and delegate to or manage others
- Proficiency in platforms and softwares (including but not limited to):
- Administrative: Google Work, SLACK, Scheduling Software
- Project management: ClickUp
- Communications: Mailchimp, Kajabi, Mighty Networks, Community Forum
- Content & Asset Management: WordPress, Dropbox
- Social media: Social Media Calendaring softwares
- Design: Canva; InDesign; Photoshop
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge in digital marketing, communications strategy, and content development.
- An understanding of the digital marketing and social media landscape
- Creative and innovative
- Ability to see the big picture, and tactically build towards it
- Excellent organization and time management skills – self-discipline with time and project management
- Ability to see projects through from start to finish
